An analysis of Queen Mab

Queen Mab was spoken of first by Mercutio when pestering Romeo about his unrequited love for Rosaline. In his opening lines of this scene he speaks of how Romeo must have been visited by Queen Mab"O,then, i see Queen Mab hath been with you". Firstly we assume that Queen Mab is quite harmless being only the creator of dreams, and smaller than an "agate-stone"or"fore-finger of an alderman" (an image engraved on a stone ring and index finger of a politician). Later on it is said "Which oft the angry Mab with blisters plagues", meaning she blisters ladies lips and drums in the ears of soldiers who are startled. She is then described as a "hag" by Mercutio and we know she is not liked by many.
