First thoughts
On first looking at the play ,in simple terms, I am going to display my first ideas on hate below.

Hatred plays a big part in Romeo and Juliet along with love sadness and fate. Firstly, between the two families (Montague's and Capulet's) there is much hatred and both families do not allow Romeo and Juliet to marry. They are always fighting and based on a young reading book I own, Verona's ruler Prince Escalus put a death threat on anyone who is caught fighting. Romeo knows this but does not worry as he is regarded as a sensible man.
Tybalt and Mercutio fight because Tybalt challenged Romeo to a fight but Romeo did not want to so Mercutio stepped in. This lead to Mercutio's death which sparked anger and hatred in Romeo, who then killed Tybalt. He fled before the Prince came but the Prince banished Romeo for life.
The last example of hate is when Romeo visits Juliet's tomb and finds Count Paris there. Count Paris accused him of trespassing and said he was there to vandalise. They both drew their daggers but Romeo killed the Count before he could kill Romeo.
Hate between the two families had caused the tragedy an they agreed to never fight again.
